It has been an exciting season for us at the KEYS program. Through this difficult time in our society, we have discovered a new way to bring SMILES and have been able to EXPAND our program. If you haven't, check out the informational posts on the THREE new music therapists who have joined our team.

With that, we are SO EXCITED to expand our music therapy offerings. Music therapy is defined as "the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program.” (American Music Therapy Association). It can be beneficial for all ages, in all walks of life. A typical music therapy session with the KEYS program is 30 minutes, and may include: instrument lessons, songwriting, music making, music listening, lyric analysis, creating, singing, moving to, and/or listening to music – anything that you or your child want to create during the session. I love to say that even silence is a form of music therapy to some. Music therapy also provides avenues for communication that can be helpful to those who find it difficult to express themselves in words. Music is AWESOME.
For our KEYS kids, we are SO EXCITED to offer music therapy sessions as a part of our program. If you have not heard of this program or taken part in our FREE music therapy sessions, feel free to contact us! If you are unsure, the first session is always an assessment - doesn't hurt to try it out!
